The continued need
As explained elsewhere on this website (Quick overview, Part 4: 2005-6 renovation),
the total cost of renovation at £187,000 exceeded the original Organ Appeal target of £150,000. The Appeal raised over £170,000 and the PCC decided to
make up the total so that the work could proceed. The Appeal is still open to receive donations towards the deficit covered by the PCC.
Two major and some minor items remain outstanding from the original concept on which the Organ Appeal was based:-
- repainting the pipes as they would have been in 1886
- installing a detached console in the nave
The first of these, repainting the pipes, was very dear to the heart of Richard Coulson, our
Director of Music for 37 years who designed the renovation and chaired the Organ Appeal Committee, but very sadly died in August 2006 shortly after
the completion of the work. It was therefore proposed by his family, and agreed by the Rector and PCC, that a memorial fund be set up
for this purpose and the PCC has established the Richard Coulson Fund with this as its objective.

How you can help - the Richard Coulson Fund
The cost of repainting the pipes and associated ironwork is likely to be about £19,000.
You can help either by giving an outright donation, by making regular payments into the Fund, or by leaving a donation in your will.
If you are a UK taxpayer, your outright or regular contribution can be increased by making it through Gift Aid, when the
income tax you have paid on it will be reimbursed to the Fund.
